Since most of us are Software System and Computing students, we have studied Java and its design model for a long time and I personally learnt Java web programming, reflection, multi-threading and related knowledge before. It is likely that our major will be working more in this area in the future. So there was a big debate in our group whether to use Spring Boot or not.
In fact, I'm the only one who has a very strong preference for Spring Boot.
But three of my teammates have enrolled on INFO30005 last semester, they have the experience to design a web application based on node.js before. As a result, they are more inclined to use node.js, because they were more proficient and to get a high score. After deciding to use node.js, I have been trying to convince myself to use node.js instead of Spring Boot. The advantage of Spring Boot is that the Java language is very extensible and has a very clear logical structure for maintaining and updating our code in the future. IO operations, which is very effective for our project. And we chose node.js finally.
